Hi, my name is Ahlam, though most call me Al. I am a mother of 2, first daughter followed by 5 sisters and the founder of Little Miss Periods.
Little Miss Periods was founded with a vision to give girls more tools to grow into beautiful confident women by telling them they matter! Even though we have been having periods since the beginning of time, the lack of a brand to represent girls during their periods was alarming for me! If we cant even commit ourselves to provide them pads that FIT and match their age group, how do we tell them we hear them? The sizing problem in existing period pads and their alarming ingredients have been both concerning and saddening. More families are paying to expose their daughters to harmful chemicals and polymers in the form of perfumes and absorption pellets present in pads. The message taught to them that periods are dirty and thus they are dirty during periods is concerning and was aimed to promote monthly consumerism! As a woman who loves colour and vibrancy and as a person who expresses my mood and personality through colours, I have found the lack of colours and a fun element in period pad completely boring!!
So creating this vibrant brand for girls has been both a dream come true and a much needed action in our communities.
